THERESA SWISTUN - INSANITY FITNESS

I have been a Zumba Instructor since July 2012 and became a Certified Insanity Instructor July 2014. Fitness has always been a big part of my life and I enjoy bringing My Passion my specialties to as many people as possible. I have been instructing Zumba Fitness for the Avalon Community Association Since September 2012 and have loved every minute of it. I have met a ton of amazing people and am so grateful to continue to be asked back. Fall 2014 was the first session of Insanity for the Avalon Community Association and it was a huge success. I love building relationships with all of my participants and getting to know them and what they love. I always emphasize that fitness should be fun, enjoyable and done at your own pace. I hope to see lots of familiar faces next session as well as new ones. I love meeting new people and helping them reach their fitness goals.  Regular exercise is the most potent and underutilized Antidepressant.

BANK PREEYAPONG - BREAKDANCE

I am originally from Thailand and moved to Canada in 2011. I started Breakdancing in 2004 after being inspired by neighbor and childhood friends. Since I began I have been known for being a well rounded dancer with excellent top-rock, freezes and power moves. My dedication and unique style allowed me to become part of a famous Breakdance crew in Thailand called "Platinum".
I have done many shows, music videos, commercials and battles across Thailand. Here in Canada I have done performances, workshops and held classes at elementary, high schools and other dance studios. Recently, I started a new crew with some local Saskatoon Breakdancers called "Concrete Mentality"and run workshops and performances across Saskatchewan.
My hope and dream is that I would be able to reach the youth of Saskatoon through my passion and knowledge for the art of breaking.

MELANIE BUCHKO - BIGGEST LOSER BOOTCAMP

I was introduced to the fitness industry at a very early age, watching my mom choreograph her fitness classes and tediously create playlists on her tape deck. I remember finally being old enough to participate in classes and the fun and hard work that had.  Now, I instruct my own fitness classes and i am very thankful i do not have to use a tape  deck for my playlists.   I am SPRA certified in Aqua, Group and Cylce Exercises and have been teaching classes for over 4 years.  I believe in the importance of movement for a healthy mind and body.

SHELLY McGRATH - LEARN TO RUN

I have been running for about the last 32 + years.  When my 4 children were small it was my “me” time before they woke and our busy days began.  Then about 20 years ago a friend suggested that we enter the Saskatoon Marathon - not a 5 km, 10 km, or even a half-marathon but a full marathon.  We began our training and successfully crossed the finish line 4 months later!  This was the beginning of my years of Marathons  with one of the highlights being completing the Boston Marathon 6 years ago and also running the Seattle Marathon with one of my daughters on the exact day of my 50th birthday!  I run mainly now with my new golden doodle puppy Sophie!!  Running is something that anyone can do, anywhere they go - no memberships required and a pair of running shoes being pretty much the only equipment required.  I have met so many people through running and experienced and saw sights, sounds and smells that I probably would have never encountered without running and exploring my world!

CARLA DUVAL-TYLER - YOGA

My yoga practice began over 16 years ago after the birth of my first child.  As a working mom, yoga offered not just a physical practice but also an opportunity to connect more deeply with myself and those around me.  Now that my kids are older I am blessed to share my love of yoga with others as a teacher, having completed my RYT-200 certification at Ground yoga with Vincent Lu.

Over the years I have practiced many styles of Yoga with many wonderful teachers, and bring all of that experience to the mat.   Whether it is yin, gentle, hot or flow classes expect to focus on alignment with a little challenge for yourself and a touch laughter along the way.

I am thankful for all the students who come and share their practice with me.

KALEAH BILINSKI - DANCE

I began dancing at age three and haven' stopped dancing since. I have over 15 years of experience dancing in some of Saskatoon’s top dance studios in various disciplines such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, and salsa. My dance journey has included performing, competing in, and assisting, and teaching various dance classes. Dance has taken me all over places like Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Biggar, Humboldt, Warman, and even Edmonton, Alberta.

I have always had a passion for learning and teaching.

In 2015, I received my Bachelor of Education with Distinction in Secondary Education. In October of the same year, I will be graduating with my second degree in Studio Art Degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

This is my second season teaching for the Avalon Community Association, and I am thrilled to be back to share my passion for dance and teaching with the community!
