CP Seeley Park fundraiser!

Saddle up for a fundraiser for the CP Seeley Park park upgrades!  (And just in time for Christmas!🎅🏻)

The ACA board is selling Cowboy’s Caviar, made in Moose Jaw, with 100% Canadian beef. It comes in 5 delicious flavours: Original, Teriyaki, Peppered, Hot & Sweet, and Candy. This is not your traditional beef jerky; it is more like a pepperoni stick with the flavour of jerky. Seriously, this is some good stuff!! 😋

Each package is 170 g (competitors are 80 g). These sell in stores for $11 – $13, but you can buy from us for only $10/package! 👍

This fundraiser will be on until January 20, 2020. We will have cash & carry available this weekend at our Skate & Slide. We will also be taking orders (cash & carry depending on product availability) at our winter program registration night on January 8th.

These would make great stocking stuffers, are the perfect addition to your appy trays, and have a long shelf life so they would be excellent to have for the lake/picnics next summer! ☀️

Fundraising for CP Seeley Park has begun!

Our first fundraiser for our new community park will be the “Drop & Go” at all Sarcan locations in Saskatoon.

Here’s how it works:

  • take your recycling to any Sarcan location in Saskatoon
  • go to the computer terminal inside
  • our fundraiser code is under the email “[email protected]
  • enter the amount of bags you wish to donate; the terminal will print the tags
  • place the tags on your bags and give them to a staff member
  • you’re done 🙂

The ACA will receive 98% of your recycling amount!

2019 AGM Agenda & Bylaws

The Avalon Community Association’s 2019 Annual General Meeting will take place October 30, 2019. It will begin at 6:30pm, and is being held at Firehall #3 on Clarence Ave. All community members are welcome!

Our big announcement!

You have waited patiently! Here’s our BIG NEWS!!😀

Each year the City of Saskatoon Community Services Department/Recreation & Community Development Division accepts grant proposals from Community Associations across the city for Park Enhancements.

This past Spring the ACA formed a committee of Chad Malinowski, Hayley McCallum & Angela Strand, with the help of Craig McCallum and JT Sprinklers, and submitted our first ever Park Enhancement grant proposal. The committee saw a need for further development at CP Seeley Park, located at Niderost Street and Underwood Avenue, to enhance the park to be more than the existing “tot lot” and welcome older children.

We are VERY proud today to announce that we were awarded the full grant! 👍

The plan is to build a new structure, which has been approved by the city, catered to older children, east of the existing play area.

We look forward to the Avalon community supporting us in this endeavour and our fundraising efforts to meet the rest of the requirements needed to enhance this playground for children in years to come!😀

 

Fall program changes!

Please note the following fall program changes:

  • due to a lack of instructor, Breakdance has been CANCELLED for this session
  • Tiny Tots Ballet A&B, and Hip Hop with Emily will now be held on TUESDAY evenings at the same time they were originally scheduled.
  • Ballet (6-8 years) will now be held on MONDAY evenings at the same time it was originally scheduled.

Registration Night Fall 2019

It’s that time of year again!

The ACA invites you to 2019 fall programming registration night at John Lake School gymnasium, September 4th from 6:30 – 8 pm.

For all programs offered please check out our website. Residents in Avalon will receive a complete program schedule in their newsletters in a few weeks.

A few reminders for registration night:
✔️we accept cash or cheque only for payment.
✔️payment is due upon registration. No post dates cheques will be accepted.
✔️children/youth MUST meet the MINIMUM age requirement for the class in order to be registered.
✔️a valid annual community association membership is required to register for all classes; an ACA membership will be available for purchase for $10/family. These are valid city wide.
✔️please bring proof of valid membership if you have membership other than in Avalon.
✔️classes are on a first come; first serve basis. Please arrive early so you ensure you get a spot in your preferred class(es).
✔️late payment is in effect. Any registrations received after Sept 4 is subject to $10/person/class. If you are unable to attend registration night, please contact our Director of Programs to make alternate arrangements.
✔️there is a $15 fee for NSF cheques.

The ACA is part of the Cost-As-A-Barrier program. For those families/individuals wishing to take part in our programming but are facing financial hardship, Please contact [email protected] for more information on this program.

John Lake Rink Steak Night Fundraiser

It’s that time again, folks!!🙂

The ACA is hosting our 2nd annual Steak Night Fundraiser for the Rink at John Lake Park on Friday, March 22, 2019. This event will once again be held at Sports On Tap (2606 Lorne Avenue). Cocktails are at 6:00 pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. In addition to an excellent meal, there will be a 50/50 draw, silent auction, raffles and door prizes to enter to win some great prizes!

Tickets are $20 for this 19+ only event and can be purchased by sending a message through our Facebook page, contacting Chad at (306) 260-8345 or Angela at (306) 220-5377. Tickets can also be purchased from any ACA board member.

We would also appreciate any and all donations to our silent auction, raffle and door prizes. Please contact us if you have anything to donate. You &/or your business will be advertised on our Facebook page and on the tables at the event.

This event sold out last year so get your tickets early! All proceeds from the event go directly back into maintaining and upgrading the Rink!
