The Rink at John Lake School
Hey everyone, I’m Andrew, and I’m your new Rink Director with the ACA. I’m really excited to be part of the Board, and I’m looking forward to meeting many of you this winter out on the ice!
As the cold weather settles in, it’s time to lace up those skates and embrace the winter wonderland at the John Lake School rink! We’re thrilled to announce the return of our public skating times, perfect for a cozy evening on the ice:
• Monday: 6-8 pm
• Wednesday: 6-8 pm
• Sunday: 1-3 pm
Our warm boot room will be open during these times, so you’ll have a comfortable spot to gear up before hitting the rink. Plus, we have skate aids available for new and beginner skaters to help build confidence on the ice.
Calling All Volunteers!
We are looking for a few dedicated volunteers to assist with supervising public skate times and keeping the ice in great condition throughout the season. If you’re available to help out, please email me at [email protected]. Your support is greatly appreciated and essential in making our rink a welcoming space for everyone.
Exciting News: The Annual Skate & Slide
Mark your calendars! This year’s Skate & Slide event is happening on Sunday, December 15th, from 1-4 pm at John Lake Park & Rink. This FREE family-friendly event is all about celebrating our vibrant community and making memories together. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:
• Horse & Sleigh Rides: Take a magical ride through the park.
• Hot Chocolate & Treats: Warm up with delicious hot cocoa and a variety of goodies.
• Fun Activities: Enjoy games like musical chairs, tug-of-war, corn hole, and more! We’ll also
have a snowman-making contest, weather permitting.
• Door Prizes: Don’t miss out on a chance to win some amazing prizes.
This event is made possible thanks to the generous support of our local businesses and community members. If you’d like to contribute by donating a door prize or making a financial donation, please email us at [email protected]. All donors will be recognized in our spring newsletter. Grab your skates, bring your family and friends, and join us for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and community spirit! We can’t wait to see you there.
Did You Know You Can Rent the Rink?
The Rink at John Lake Park is available to rent for hockey team practices, family get-togethers, workplace team-building events, shinny games, and more! If you’re interested in booking the rink, please contact me for more information at [email protected].
Stay Safe and Enjoy the Ice!
Helmets and other safety equipment are recommended for all skaters. Please be respectful of others on the ice, and remember that the ACA is not responsible for any lost items or incidents.
Looking forward to another fantastic season!
Cheers,
