Growing Smiles Spring Fundraiser
You have asked for it and we heard you! The Spring Growing Smiles Fundraiser is back! We will be offering all the same beautiful plants, flowers and vegetables (and those delicious strawberries!) The vegetables and herbs are improved from last year and we have kept all our prices the same. Pick up is on May 25 from 5-7 pm at 2708 & 2710 McConnell Avenue. Payment is online via credit card or you can drop off cash or cheque at 2710 McConnell Avenue. Order deadline is on May 7.
All funds raised go towards renovations for the Rink at John Lake Park. We are very close to our goal and hope to be starting the renovations this summer in order to unveil a new rink to our community in time for Winter 2021-22!

Rink at John Lake Park
The Rink at John Lake Park is officially closed for the season. We would like to thank everyone for another great season; especially with all the new guidelines in place.
We are very close to our fundraising goal and hope to unveil a newly renovated rink for next season!

The courses will be held outdoors at John Lake Park. All Covid-19 protocols will be met including maximum number of people allowed in a public gathering and physical distancing. While use of masks are encouraged, they are not mandatory for these classes. Please note that the classes are subject to cancellation in the event of Government of Saskatchewan Health Order changes, adverse weather or if the minimum number of required participants are not met. While the ACA will do their best to offer make up classes in the case of cancellation, this is not always possible and the ACA will not offer refunds.
Registration will be done via EMAIL and EFT from Wednesday, April 14 @ 12:00pm to Friday, April 16 @ 4:00pm and will be first received first served as space is limited. (Registration details to come at a later date). When registering for programs, please remember that only the participant registered can participate in the class. Additionally, registrants must meet the minimum age requirements to participate in a class.
A community association membership at a fee of $5 per family/individual will be required to be purchased at the time of registration. Community association memberships are valid city wide and we are happy to accept memberships from other City of Saskatoon community associations with proof of purchase.
The Avalon Community Association offers cost-as-a-barrier assistance for those facing financial difficulties who would like to participate in our programs. Please email [email protected] for more information prior to registration.
Instructors will contact all participants prior to class with complete class schedule and any other information required for the class (ie: supplies, appropriate dress, etc)
SPS Crime in Avalon & Crime Prevention Zoom Presentation
The ACA is pleased to announce a Zoom presentation on Tuesday, March 16 @ 7 PM with a special guest from the Saskatoon Police Service.
He will be presenting statistics on crime in Avalon, how to best prevent crimes from happening to you, ways to report various crimes, and what happens after you report a crime.
There will be an opportunity for questions following the presentation.
Although the statistics given will be for the Avalon community, the remaining information presented applies to every individual, therefore this presentation is not limited to only Avalon residents.

ACA Winter Programs
The Avalon Community Association is happy to offer two classes for the 2021 Winter Programming Session as follows:
Home Alone Course:
Friday, January 22, 2021 (6:30pm – 9:00pm)
Ages 9*-12
$30.00 + $5 ACA membership fee
Babysitting Course:
Saturday, February 6, 2021 (9:00am – 4:00pm)
Ages 11-14
$50.00 + $5 ACA membership fee
Courses will be held at the Avalon Alliance Church (basement) located at 413 Cascade St. Amber Blum will be the certified instructor for these classes.
All Covid-19 protocols will be met including mandatory use of masks (must bring your own), hand sanitizer and physical distancing. Please note that the classes are subject to cancellation in the event of Government of Saskatchewan Health Order changes or if the minimum number of required participants are not met.
Registration will be done via Email and Electronic Funds Transfer starting Wednesday January 6th at 4:00pm and closing Friday, January 8th at 4:00pm and will be on a first received first served basis.
Registration process is as follows:

- Participant Name
- Birthdate (participant must meet the minimum age on or before the class date)
- Address including postal code
- Phone number
- Parent/Guardian Name
- After information is received by the Director of Programs an email will be sent to you with payment instructions.
- Once funds are received you will receive a confirmation email.

*Please note that although Home Alone is for children aged 9 and over, the Government of Saskatchewan recommends that children are not left home unsupervised until they are 10 years of age. The Avalon Community Association is offering this program to prepare children for when they reach the age of 10. We stress that although this class will prepare children for staying home alone, it is up to the parent/guardian to make the ultimate decision for children readiness to stay in the home without adult supervision.
